For the guitar
replace the pickgaurd with a double hornbucker pickgaurd from warmoth.
replace the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Pickup.
replace the neck pickup with a SEYMOUR DUNCAN JB MODEL HUMBUCKER PICKUP.

for your mustang-->switchcraft or cts 500k pots(vol & tone).

route your guitar to fit this,its a single coil size super
distortion humbucker,(leave neck stock)
this saves you money,you dont need a new pickgaurd or routing and youl have the same result,as for wanting a humbucker in the neck,its pretty well pointless because you will not get the sound you want out of any pickup in the neck position.
Effects: forget the dod grunge pedal,or anything by dod actualy,the idea that you can get a "grunge" sound out of this pedal is absolutely absurd.if you can afford a SansAmp classic get it,if not get a Boss DS1 or DS2,a small clone is ok but a poly chorus has far more advantages although its dearer,since your amp is crap i would get a electro harmonix distortion(one with 2 tubes in it) if i couldnt afford a sansamp because you need the tubes or a sansamp to complete the sound you want.if you had a tube amp a bigmuff or pro co rat would be good,but since you dont forget it.
i know this because i have all the effects i recomended and it took me alot of time and money experimenting until i got what i wanted,believe me if you do what you said you will be very p!ssed off and broke!!!
as for the humbuckers i have a DP218 in my jaguar and a DP100 in my jagmaster and they are virtualy the same,i got a paf in the neck of the jagmaster,and the jaguar neck is stock,it was a single coil size paf but i ripped it out as its not even needed and it is totaly useless with distortion for grunge,for clean and lead its nice,but thats it.
To mumbly joes comment,well i been playing grunge/punk for 12 years and i havent grown out of it,sayin that is pathetic and equivilent to saying youl grow out of blues or metal,grunge is not mainstream media hype,real grunge is underground and hardly known,besides an explosion of nirvana etc in the early nineties its remaind the same,underground-just how we like it.but im not limited by the music i love,i also play flamenco,classical and death metal and everything inbetween,my band is grungy as fck,but that doesnt mean i restrict myself to a single "genre".
Also to complete the sound youl need to mess around with the bass,treb.mids a average starting spot is bass-4-6/mid-7-8/treb-3-5, every amp is differant so just mess with it and listen to the "TONES" of the music you like not the effects and try and match it on your amp
