It seems to me like there are some kind of difference between different models of pickguard.
Here's what I'd like it to look like, it's from a user here on the site who got it custom made by an ex-user, it seems to be less bright and have more shades of black in it.
And here's a red tortoise pickguard from wdmusic compared to a brown one that I "photoshoped" on my guitar, you'll see they don't look the same at all from the picture above.
