my amp is a marshall jcm 800 bass amp which sound really good bu has no drive setting so i use a ds-2 ( which i love)

Then I second what Henry said earlier and will say get a Jazzmaster. The CP ones have warmer pickups, meaning they'll have a less icepick-in-the-ear distorted tone than a standard Strat, and Jazzys are famous for being great clean. You might have to try one first to see if the bridge pickup is suited for what you want to use it for though.

You say you want a 'dry' bridge tone that will 'ring out' chords. It sounds like a difficult juggling act.

Can you give an example of a song with the tone you are looking for?

But I would say that if you after 'dry' - even though I'm not even sure what that means - I would rule out a tele. Out of everything a tele bridge pickup could be called, I don't think 'dry' is one of them 😊

It actually sounds like it may be a Jaguar sound you are after, but they don't come cheap.

for ringing out chords imagine under the bridge and for dry imagine if you have to ask (the bridge doesnt have to ring...the neck can 😛 )...yeah i know...loads of rhcp

i would look at a jazzmaster but they dont have where i go to buy and where i go to buy are the fender agents for my area (and i prefer to try before i buy for obvious reasons)

at the same shop the jag is like 750 euro which im willing to spend (been saving up for a year not buying anything that i dont need whle playing loads of guitar and still getting good grade...ive worked hard for this 😁 )

It really does sound like you are heading in a strat/jazzy/jag direction.

I'm no expert on Jazzy's and Jag's but there are certainly people who are.

Might I suggest typing something like 'classic player jazzmaster demo' into youtube and see what you can hear 😊

looked at demos...still cant decide!!!

To be honest that Under The Bridge sound is more to do with the way it's actually played than the guitar. The fingerpicking gives it that warm, resonant sound. But I do think that a Jag or Jazzy is what yr after.

But just to elaborate on that... The part was played on a Jazzy, I believe.

Since i'm so excited with my new sidejack baritone deluxe my choice would be one of these eastwoods. I'm definately going to get another one. Haven't decided which one yet.

you sure...never saw him play or mention a jazzy

I'm fairly sure the part from Under the Bridge was played on a Jazzy.

Perhaps someone else can confirm or refute it...

it says he used a jazzy for the video but he clearly uses a jag.

froosh used a jazzy which was randomly in the studio for under the bridge. Definitely remember reading that..

there are way too many coll guitars out there which are all in my price range.

listened to zep yesterday and now i want an LP

what next?

ill think illl just buy the jag...i was also listning to counting crows today. mr jones has a jag in it (or at least the vid does) and it has such a nic sound for chords

70% of your tone comes from the amp... just becuase he has a jag doesnt mean you will get that tone...

Can't remember if this was the thread i posted in ages ago... but look into the CP jazzys and jags, play a few and decide. You're not going to get any closer by finding out which guitars are used by who.

I'm pretty sure that story isn't true, seeing as the studio they used for BSSM was literally a haunted house that they moved some equipment into... I doubt Froosh used anything other than a couple of Strats and a Jag on that album.

The mansion they moved into for the recording, and the Jazzmaster, belonged to Rick Rubin, who produced the album.

yeah this thread got side tracked...

i need to go play them.

unforetunatly they dont stock any jazzes where i go only jags

i tried a jag today...very bright. not sure 100% if i like it...it just feels so different (i presume this is normal whan you've only played strats for over a year. but i think i like it. can it go slightly less trebly with a good EQ?

i also tried an SG...the neck was too thick though and it was very uncomfortable but the sound really nice
