if you play in a home environment the vox is perfect imo. At 1/4 watt its nice and breaks up but the overall volume is not real loud. The 1 watt is in between. The 4 watt setting is where i use a few effects because of the headroom, where you can roll the volume and get some nice clean fender like tones. I enjoy it. I have it run to a little epiphone blues cab with 1 12. It has no reverb, i know that is a biggie for some people. I played a little blackstar and i liked it. I also played the fender little bitty one, the champ i think. I didn't like the speaker but the amp was ok. I tried all of em and went with the vox. Btw 4 watts tube is pretty loud in your house.
If your budget would be 899.00 i would say buy trans-atlantic and be done. I love that little mesa!!
.
I also played the jet city and i liked that one a lot.
I tried the egnater tweaker and that one was great also.
I'm gonna stop because i basically played every one out there. I went with the vox because the price was so good and i liked it. I figured this isn't my last amp, i want 25 more, so this one won't hurt the pocket and sounds great.
The only one i didn't get to play and i really want is the ibanez with the tube screamer circuit built in. That is something i am very curious about. Very intresting.
