My two favorite pedals are the Xotic AC Booster and the Fulltone Fulldrive II Mosfet.
The Fulldrive has a great overdrive tone, and the Xotic is an excellent boost, wich also can work as an overdrive pedal, depending on the amp.
oh! fulldrive is a monster. You are being humble. That thing is a god damn monster. Mr. Fuller is mean. I read a email he wrote this kid and it blew my mind. This kid was having trouble with a pedal and he was like, listen ####, i'm #### busy got it? I'm not going to stop working on what i'm doing to answer your #### question and fix your pedal. I'll fix it when i fix it. Quit #### emailing me. I swear if that letter was real and they all said it was and it wasn't the first he's written like that, i'll never buy one. Problem is they are animals. I want one of each of his pedals, but you can't talk to customers like that. I was in shock when i read it. It's on another forum and they said they checked into it and it was legit, that is who he is.
I thought about my favorite pedal last night. My mesa is a tone machine. I can dial in so many different styles of tone that i don't really need any pedals but one. I use them because i like to try different sounds, and i have been on this manipulating feedback kick lately so i have been trying different guitars and different pickups with pedals and seeing how they feedback and capturing it.
drum roll please
My favorite box is Boss FDR-1 - Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Pedal. One thing my mesa does not have is reverb. Aside from the reverb i love the boost on this pedal also. It really makes my vox sound like a 65 on the 1 watt setting dimed. I turn the reverb all the way down and the tremolo all the way down and use the gain and level controls to slightly change the character of the vox into more of a overdriven fender, just a 1 watt fender. ha
My vox and my mesa don't have reverb and even though i'm not a big reverb fan, a touch here or there accents a tone nicely. I'm gonna give some details in case people aren't familiar with it. It has a tap tempo which i enjoy fiddling with. With the tap tempo i find it versatile. It can be used as a boost like i use the ds-1. It can be used to push an amp using the gain and getting a more "broken up" sound at a lower volume. I use it as a little eq because it has bass and treble. So if i want a little bassier sound or vice versa i can engage the pedal and with most everything turned down it just changes some freq's so i still have the same volume and just the tone is a hair different.(i hope i'm wording this right). One more secret use that i'm the only one i know of that has done this. I use the tap tempo as a metronome. The light blinks with the tempo you tapped and if it is correct you hit switch and it's on, i like to watch it blink. I use it because i have bad timing, i speed up and slow down too much. I use this pedal in a bunch of ways, that's why i picked it.
I don't understand what you mean by the op reworded question thing plaidbeer? I was under the impression he wanted to know if you could only take one with you what would it be and why? or What are you after as far as the perfect, best, coolest pedal? It's an opinion question so theres no wrong answer, it has increased the chatter so i think it was well done. Maybe you could put which ones you like even if it's more than one. Your favorite phaser is _ and drive is__ and so on. I, personally, like to read what everyone else is using and why. As you can see i talk alot and i am a fan of communication, that is why i write songs. Throw some of your favorites up here man and let's hear why.
Wow Foxy, that looks complicated. Line 6 has always rung a bad chord in my mind and i can't remember why. Now i don't like them for no good reason. I may have bought something years ago when modeling was beginning and didn't like it. That looks like one stop shopping. Expression pedal add on? It looks like almost 4 channels or sound options with eq for each? I'm going to go read about it, i can't see it good in picture. It appears overwhelming. Do you use it live?
