I do mean it as mahogany guitars have so much more balls and guts than alder guitars! This is just fact, not my biased opinion.
All the heaviest band use mahogany guitars, usually Gibson or ESP or other.
Mahogany is the best wood for heavy guitar tunes.
Plus I like set necks, they dont have a big brick/square block at the neck joint like bolt ons.
Yep, I am a Gibson convert, 100%. I played Fenders and Fender styled guitars for a decade and a half, then I realized I was never gonna get the sounds I wanted from fenders, although I love the look of jaguars, they are heavy and just don't sound like I want them to sound.
I'm saving for a Gibson '61 SG reissue, sick guitar. That and my Jett BH Melody Maker (such a good guitar, sounds just like an SG) will be my two guitars I play with, my fenders just sit there gathering dust now.
Although, I still play my 66 mustang occasionally and would play it more if I got it refretted.
I'd love a mahogany mustang, set neck, one bridge humbucker, tuneomatic, gibson stoptail. Normal fender headstock with a pitch of about 10 degrees, all the normal contours, black nitro. Essentially it'd sound like an SG but look more like a Mustang. 😁
