got a chance to play one of these in store today. the quality of this guitar isn't exactly "up there" but then again i had also just played an avri jag so i wasn't exactly surprised i came to that conclusion. couple things bothered me... the lack of the trem lock, for one. do you think you could do a 1-for-1 swap with a 'real' JM trem? by that i mean, do the screw holes match? the thing played pretty nicely for the price, though.
I should add that i was playing the hideously ugly black/white model, and true to my superficial nature, i'm pretty sure that nasty colour scheme got in the way of me making an accurate evaluation of the guitar, though.
I'm actually glad about the truss rod adjustment thingy being at the top of the neck. i tend to switch string gauges erratically so it would probably come in handy. i hate adjusting at the bottom on my musicmaster.
I do have one question though. i've never actually owned a jazzmaster (and i've only really played mustangs/jags) so i'm not 100% sure what you're missing with the whole rhythm switch thing at the top. I know in jags/stangs you can actually get tonal variation by playing with the phasing and stuff, but with the switches on the JM, to my understanding, all you get are preset settings on the neck pickup? so no real tonal variation, its just a convenience thing, yes? if that's the case i can forget about installing this circuit entirely (something i was planning on doing previously) and save me the 50 bucks on overpriced fender knobs from ebay and the headache of getting all that wiring right.
