Speaker power handling

I'm going to be building a 2x12 cab which i will run from my Laney LC15 and i was wondering what the best speaker wattage would be for the job. I shall probably pair a Jenson alnico and ceramic, but should i go for a P12R and a C12R which are both 25watt or a P12Q and a C12Q 40 and 35 watt which would give me an overall 70 watts. My Laney wouldn't be able to power a P12N and a C12N both 50 watts (100 watts overall) would it? I want to be able to suit my amp as well as have a decent speaker wattage in case i want to use a 50watt+ head in the future. Any ideas/opinions? Cheers.

what about Celestion Vintage 30"s im not a fan of Jensen speakers.

I've sort of ruled out celestions because i'm not really after that british rock sound. From the reviews i've read and my tube 10 in my Laney i think thay will be a bit too middy/mushy for me. I'm looking for a tight bottom end(ooh er! 😡 ) and shimmering glassy highs, sort of Buckley sounding clean and a strokes sounding/indie under distortion, for which i will use my Rat. I thought the Jensons would be best for that Fender sound. I've been doing loads of research, it's making my head spin trying to find the right combo. I don't want the hassle of ordering Webers from America, the Eminence don't seem all that amazing from the reviews i've read and the celstions for above reasons, although i nearly considered building a 1x12 cab with a Celestion Blue. I could afford it, but i'll be real pissed if i don't like it, and i'll be 170 smackers down! Hmmm decisions decisions 🙄

You have a 15w amp, you could get away with 15w rms worth of speakers, seeing as that's not really a possibility due to I have never seen a 7.5w 12" speaker, go for 2 15w Jensen's or Weber Jensen copies,I'm not going to go into the details But you will get no advantages, not one, by using overpowered speakers in any amp, especially a low powered one,only DISADVANTAGES!

If you have the opportunity to go to a guitar shop or the like and try your amp in a Blue Dog loaded cab or anything that is 30w rms, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.Mark my words, your amp will be louder and sound better with 30w rms worth of speakers than 50.Please ignore the fact that the amps come from factory with higher rated speakers, its got nothing to do with tone,reliability,hedroom or anything other than profit for the amp manufacturers.

Thanks for the advice Dunxy, although i feel i might go for at least 50 watts total. The LC15 is pretty powerful and pushes the stock 30 watt speaker hard, i've heard people powering a marshall 4x12 cab with great results! Does any body here have any experiences they want to share with the reissue Jensen's or any other brand of speaker? Reading reviews of the Jensens i see some people love'em and some people hate'em the alnicos don't seem to be that amazing on there own, but i thought pairing it with a ceramic would complement it nicely. I want a speaker that can give me a nice bell like Fendery clean sound but which can also sound good when driven.
