My first and new Jaguar!

I recieved my first and new Jaguar yesterday!!!!!!!! 😲

It's a new Olympic White AV Jaguar! 😛

I can't express my feelings! I'm soooo happy! It's amazingly beautiful guys.

Some of you allready know it cause you allready have a Jag.

But imagine me that I want it for years and never have money to buy one.I haven't even touch an AV Jag.Only one time for 5 mins a Jap one in a local store.Then, it was the second pit-pat! The first was when I saw it for the first time in a foto. The best shape of all the guitars!I never was afraid for the sound of it cause all of my or the most, guitar idols are playing with Jags.I also realize it with the CAR Jap one I played to the local store. I'm playing surf...it's a must. 😎

I'm terribly sorry that I can't post pics right now because I don't have a digital camera.

But on Monday or Tuesday be sure that I'll post some.I'll take some fotos right now with my analog camera and I'll post them asap.

I put some flatwound 11's (they were in the hardshell case with the guitar and the other extras,nice strap too -I never have used flatwound strings,looks interesting 😕 ) and I can't wait the time to pass after 5 o'clock (it's noon and maybe the neighbours are sleeping) and plag it in my amp. Or #### up the neighbours and turn my amp at dangerous levels? 😈

Anyway...I need only half an hour....

I'm also happy cause now I'm a proud member over here!

P.S. Thank you guys for all the information I learned in this forum that makes me love and appreciate even more what I have in my hands.

AWESOME! I love the feeling when you get a new guitar! I had the same feeling when i got me Jag it was like HOLY #### THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT! Im happy for yeah cant wait to see those pics! i have fun rocking out once you can.

I saw that there is a small angle btw the body and the neck.

They're not parallel and matched correct. 😕

Is this for any kind of reason?

That's right, sometimes with Jaguars there isn't enough of an angle and you have to "shim" the neck; glue a plectrum or some cardboard or something to lift the neck and create an angle. Congrats on the new guitar 😀

I took off the neck and I saw some pieces of cardboard inside.

I didn't imagine that these were for the angle and I didn't put them back.

Now the strings are too high.I must took it off again 😠

Why Fender doesn't do something for this? 😕

Bob, why did you say sometimes?Some Jags are ok with this angle?

Or all of them need it?

Is it possible to place the bridge lower to avoid this kind of problems? Or I'm speaking totally as a newbie? 😡

I'm not sure why Fender doesn't do anything in the new Jaguars, but as yours is an '62 AV one, it'll be built like they were in 1962. I say sometimes because some people shim it and some don't, depends how it feels to them, generally, I bought mine off someone from this board and he'd shimmed it so I don't know what it was like before so I can't really comment on out of the factory Jags.

You can lower the bridge with the allen keys that should have come with the guitar. Go to http://www.fenderjaguar.net/setup.htm for set up details, and how to do things. That site belongs to Rick, one of the mods here, and should have everything you need. Don't worry about questions, everyone has them or has had them :}

Mine needs shim 😆 the strings are so high even if you lower the bridge as much as possible.

....a '62 AV Jag must be like a '62 Jag.... no comments 😎

You sure this was brand new? Never saw a factory new Fender with shims. 😕

That confused me a bit too, perhaps Fender USA when making AVs put some effort into a setup? :/

That confused me a bit too, but it was probably set up properly in the shop he bought it at.

I ordered it as new from Musician's Friend.

Do you believe that this is not a new Fender? 😲

The cardboards between the neck and the body were there from the factory.I found them inside when I took off the neck.

my av jag neck had a shim in it. don't know if it is factory or not tho. i bought mine used from a store in nyc. the guy did a few small mods to it. like the buzz stop and some new screws for the bridge pieces. he may have put the shim in but i doubt it. it was in there pretty good, and i think there may have even been a slight indent. indicating to me that the shim has been there a while.

I took out of the box stock an had been shreding it ever since.
