Squier 51

Ok so I made an impulse purchase and bought a Squier 51 for $100 at GC used. It's in great shape, the neck is virtually

unplayed. I don't know if a kid dropped his hobby or what but his loss is my gain if thats the case. Anyway, I bought this

to make it mine and I am having trouble deciding on PUPS and pickguard color. With the pups, I'm not really looking for a

"get these" kind of thing just an explanation on which pups will sound better clean, which would sound better distorted through a

late 60's Univox Superfuzz (my new holy grail find 😁) and my Roland DS-2. I am using this to work on my original music and I am stuck between

the always faithful Sey-Dun JB and the DM Super Dist for the humbucker. I am also stuck between Lollar Blackflace, Texas Special

(CAN'T FIND JUST ONE!), and a Mustang neck for the single-coil neck position. So again, just wondering what you guys would think

would sound best and pretty much why.

I have seen Texas Specials on ebay this last week for around $59. They are around if you keep an eye on ebay. I am thinking of using a Lace Hot Gold with a JB on my incoming Mustang. It has a hot SRV sort of tone to it that I like.

Thanks, so far I am think either a Lollar Blackface or Texas Special with a Super Dist in my Squier 51.

And then a genuine (not reissue) 1965 Mustang single-coil with a Sey-Dun JB in my Jag-Stang.

Very cool. I thought about getting a standard Mustang pup for my Mustang project, but haven't really decided for certain. Right now I am thinking either a Mustang pickup, Texas Special, or a Hot Gold Lace pickup in the next to go with a full JB in the bridge.

So, I picked my guitar up from my luthier today. He did a fantastic job on it. I am having too much fun right now to take pictures and post clips of how it sounds, but I will later tonight. It truly is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned period. Here is what I decided on and had done to it.

If you don't understand my paint diagram, the top is how the control plate and wiring was set up before.

The bottom is what I had the control plate changed to and below that is the rest of the mods I had done to it.

It came out absolutely amazing and I couldn't be happier.
