Left handed original issue JS in Sonic Blue

I have an original issue left handed Jag-Stang in sonic blue which I purchased in London (where I'm based) circa 1999/2000. It it is in almost perfect condition save for a small flake to the corner of the scratchboard. Since realising I was never going to make it due to a severe lack of talent, it has been in the back of a cupboard for years. I always thought it was worth keeping, but recently started thinking about selling it.

From looking on the internet and on this site, it seems that they can go for a lot of money. Just exactly how much should I be asking for / putting as a reserve price if I did decide to list it on ebay?

If it is in great shape I have seen them go for $600 and up. It depends on the condition. I wouldn't think it is unreasonable for you to get close to $1000 possibly since it is the most rare type and the one people seem to want the most either to collect or because they are leftys. 😀 Check ebays history on those sales. It should give you a range the item has sold for in the past.

Honestly, you should put a reserve of at LEAST 1000 as collector demand for the lefty version is going up!! this is the 20th anniversary year of Nevermind and next year will be In Utero's. the year after will be the 20th anniversary of KC's death, so you can bet that the value is only going to skyrocket from there!!! It's being sought, not as a PLAYER guitar but as strictly an ART/DISPLAY piece for Nirvana collectors!! If your guitar is in beautiful visual condition, that is the most important!! If you were to procure a lefty Mustang pickguard autographed by Kurt and put it on that guitar making it a "rare autographed Jag-Stang"... WHOA NellY... You would have a piece cabable of commanding a price close to $15,000 or more... Guitars autographed by Aerosmith and Metallica fetch prices of $10,000 today. Think about a Jag-Stang (LEFTY) autographed by Nirvana??? Yeah... So, I think you should INVEST in this instrument.. It could BIG TIME pay out for you if you find a lefty autographed pickguard...
