Problem with volume/tone pots

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I was hoping someone could help me out.

I've got a Japanese Jaguar special with humbuckers, but I'm having problems with the volume pot. Basically, when the volume is not on full, it sounds horrible, like all the tone has been sucked out of my guitar. And the tone pot sounds a bit crappy too. I just leave it all the way up and use the eq and volume on my pedals and amp. I'd really like to be able to use the volume and tone settings on my guitar because it's a jag and is supposed to be very versatile, but I don't know what pots to replace them with. 100k 250k or 500k? Are there any more options? I'm not even sure which pots are in it at the moment. Does anyone know what factory pots will have been used.

I think they have 500k pots. Check and see how they are connected currently. There are different ways to set up your tone pots. I used a mod another user posted. It is in my post about my Mustang project. I think that method of wiring your tone and volume help keep the sound from getting muddy when the volume is changed. The tone seems fine to me with this set up too. I keep my Jag Special at 10 and 10 also, but I agree it muddy's if you try to change it. I used the rhythm and lead to boost bass.
