Hey guys, I've been in the market for a 65 CIJ mustang reissue and im finally purchasing one this week.
As I'm purchasing this guitar new, I want to do a few mods to it, which means re-wiring toggle switches pickups etc.
To start things off, I'm a lead guitarist in a rock/punk/pop garage band, so we pretty much play everything from blink 182, nirvana, foo fighters,
to the pixies As a guitarist my main influences are the pumpkins, Jack White (white stripes), and aussie bands such as kisschasy, grinspoon, 28 days.
So basically I tend to play alot of rock/pop but do like a bit of versatility in a guitar
I've had a look at the seymour duncan tone wizard and done a bit of research myself and am deciding on this setup:
Bridge: Seymour Duncan Cool Rails
Neck: Seymour Duncan SSL - 5 Custom Staggered
Generally, I want to be able to have a thick sounding guitar whilst still retaining the single coil sound,
basically a medium between a les paul and a strat. As far as clean and distortion tones go, I want to have a strong overdrive for soloing etc,
but still want to retain some warmth within playing clean sounds.
As im new to this all, I need some suggestions as to how this pickup combo would perform
And if it helps as to what amp i use, I have one of those valvestate 100 watt marshall amps (VS100?) I use for gigging and jamming,
and also have access to a JCM 900 which I tend to use from time to time.
any help would be much appreciated,
cheers
