First body build! I am very excited for it. I have assembled guitars from parts, but never taken a piece of wood and cut out my own body. I have a Jazzmaster template I found online will all the measurements and routings marked. I picked up a red pearl pickguard and a black/white/black one as an option. My inspiration will be the Elvis Costello Jazzmaster. I will probably get a Warmoth neck and Fender parts. Not sure on pickups. Never worked with Jazzmaster pickups before. I might do one traditional with the rhythm stuff and one without using humbuckers if I get two bodies out of the wood I have. (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.) I am hoping to use stain to get a rustic coffee table wood color out of it. Like the picture below.

So far I just have the paper template and a ten foot by eight inch piece of Alder. (It is going to be a two piece body with a center seam and I can't believe it only cost $39.00!) It should be enough wood to maybe get two bodies out of it. If I get two usable bodies, I might do a colored satin stain that still shows the wood. I kind of like the charred black look with natural wood. Clean and pretty isn't really my thing with wood.
I will post pictures of the wood and my current pickguard a bit later. Wish me luck!
