i bought mine in 1999 , and its in standard trim , only ever seen sonic blue and fiesta red ones ...

i have 96 and for a lil while i had an 04, and the 04 was deffinitly a more blue color.

its blue, it just has a big greenish tin to it. try comparing it to other colors in the same spectrum

This is pretty tricky... mine is definitely a surf green, but when I got it I thought "hey it's only in sonic blue, maybe my eyes are deceiving me..." then I went to a shop to get a new pickguard, and then I asked the guy about the color, he said "it's surf green" and then I said, "you know, thing is it was never made in surf green, isn't it just a greeny sonic blue?" lol and the guy actually laughed at me saying it was obviously surf green, even grabbed a Fender color pie he had there.

I think they might have made a few surf green.

They didn't make any officially.

They might have used some left over paint or odd mixes at the factory so it doesn't go to waste.

Fender did similar things with hardware (when stamps change going from one year to another), necks (when serial numbers change) or decals (when design changes) many times in their history.

Most likely your guitar has seen a lots of sunshine, or maybe lots of cigarette smoke that made it change it's colour more.

Or maybe one of the previuos owners simply refinished the body in different collor.

I thought about someone getting it refinished, but I am the second owner... I thought also about time changing the color somehow, but under the pickguard and pots metal plate everything is the same, so I guess we're left with someone at the factory messing with paint remains lol

Sonic Blue does turn very green if you leave it in the sun. My surf green is a Warmoth body.
