Auto-Immune Hi, I was just wondering the purpose of this pedal and how much its worth. I think its vintage..the picture qualitys not great but it appears to be really old.
Richie DOD Overdrive/ Preamp 250. It's the overdrive pedal Yngwie Malmsteen uses. They made them in the 80s. They get a good rep but I think they're crap, personally. They're not worth an awful lot.

I think overdrives are supposed to boost your signal to cause your amp to distort where distortion pedals distort the signal at the pedal. I could be wrong though. Overdrive pedals can sometimes be a little more mild vs a distortion pedal.

Richie Depends entirely on what you consider to sound "bad". But generally no, people stack up gain pedals all the time. You'd probably get the best results going guitar -> distortion -> overdrive -> amp. Having that much gain will get noisy though.
spirograph i find that going from lower gain into higher gain pedals (or amp channels etc) sounds more integrated, or realistic, or something. it just sounds better, to me.
HNB When I stack pedals like that I can get some good feedback, but mine are mostly distortion ones. 😉
