Stoked I finally finished my JS project today. She is an original issue 1998.
This is what I have done to her:
-New Chrome hardware
-Ice White finish
-Red tort scratchplate
-Seymour Duncan SH-14 Humbucker in bridge
-Seymour Duncan Custom 5 single coil in neck
-Hardwired pups to my specs (HB in normal mode, Single coil out of phase)
-Fender Tone knobs (bell-shaped) ...my name is Tone so she is running dual Tone knobs 😉
-Pup Switches removed
-Locked tailpiece down
-Locked in floating bridge
-Fret redress
-Schaller strap locks hard glued in
-Nut filed to fit 0.54-0.13's perfectly
It is now my perfect guitar.
Next project I think I am going to fit out my 1995 the same as above, albeit for a different finish- a very very LIGHT blue finish a la 65 Mustang reissue, and replace the scratchplate with a white pearloid guard without the switch holes.
I am super happy with the pickup selection- anyone looking to replace their pickups with something a little more ballsy without going active or ridiculous (ie, a small power boost of sorts without going into Invaders or Custom Customs), then I can recommend both of the above pickups- the Custom 5 is heavily underrated and the SH-14 is a little hotter than the original humbucker but still considered a medium-range pup with sweet definition and no feedback issues...
