I just acquired a black cyclone hs mim. my first step is going to be refinishing this thing surf green and getting a red tortoise shell pickguard. once that's done I also plan on upgrading the humbucker/single coil and I'd like to do something with the bridge since it's pretty much a strat bridge. any recommendations?
that all sounds lovely to me. problem is, theres not really a lot you can do with a strat bridge. it depends if its the old style one that pivots against 6 screws. if it is, u can hardtail it like this. slacken the strings, tighten the spring claw in the back til the bridgeplate sits flat on the body, tune to pitch. u want to keep tightening till it stays flat and bending strings doesnt lift it. all of this dicking about mite result in a broken string, so u mite want to do this before u put new strings on.
if its the modern strat bridge that pivots against 2 posts theres a variation on this to hardtail it. but the hole under/around a strat bridge is a bit too much to mount any other bridge that i know of, so filling the hole up is the only way to change bridge style, n then i guess you could have any bridge you liked prety much!
