I just put SJAG3's on mine and the pole pieces are flush with the surface of the pickup - they do not jut out like "normal" jag pickups. So technically they are fine, you just put the pickup covers on and off you go. If you wanted to widen the pole piece holes (see earlier discussion about this I posted) All you are doing is making more of the pole piece visible - you cannot cut the covers to "fit" as the pole pieces are flush with the pickup surface in the first place.
When I removed the original pickups, they were grounded by being soldered to the claw - and were stuck on with some light glue as your man says. Just rip em off and then the only problems are:
a) Resoldering the ground on the new SD's (tricky to get it to 'stick' to the claw)
😎 Finding out that SD have the wiring diagram totally wrong for the Jaguar pickups you have just bought, with bridge and neck wire colours the wrong way round. I think it stated bridge was white and black and neck red and black, but when you unbox your pickups it is the reverse. Irritating.
c) Melting that ridiculous solder that is in the guitar. They used "Never-Melt" solder in the factory it would seem. I remember the grounding under the bridge pickup was obscenely hard to melt.
