jfirish21 I currently have an '72 Fender Musicmaster taken apart and sanded down. It maybe a poplar body and has a slight crack on the back near the neck plate. I want to put some Blues Special from Lindy Fralin pickups and a satin finish, but after playing with the Pawn Shop Mustang Special I been considering installing a 6 hole hard tail or even routing the back for a vintage Fender Tremolo arm from a Strat and contouring the body. Is routing the back of the body possible with a Musicmaster or Mustang or would the 6 hole hard tail be a better alternative to the stock Musicmaster bridge?
jfirish21 I want to either make my Music Master's bridge like the Pawn Shop Mustang or a Cyclones. Which method would be easier drilling the holes or routing out the space?
lokalfuz I believe the body is a 1/4" thinner, so the trem block may stick out and dig into the ribs, I'd go with a hard tail bridge, maybe string through body to add sustain.
jfirish21 That's sounds like the safer option. I'll be getting it drilled by a local luthier better not to ruin the body making a mistake.
