serial number jaguar

I'm planning to buy a fender jaguar: Click

Serial number: V124899

When I search after some more information about the serial number I get this:

This guitar is from the U.S. Vintage Series

made at the Corona Plant (Fender), USA

in the Year(s): Cannot be determined from serial number.

The seller says it's build in the late 90s.

Is it normal the production date is not in the serial?

Anyone can give me also some more information, build quality, re-issue or not, ...

someone said: 1982 saw the introduction of the U.S. Vintage Series instruments and "V"-prefix serial numbers. The only way to definitively date U.S. instruments with "V"-prefix serial numbers is to remove the neck and check the butt end of the neck heel for a production date, which may be stamped or written there.

Unless the seller is saying it is US made, it is probably a MIJ one. I put in the serial in the decoder here:

But when you check American made, it also give information, weird.

It gives that it can't find a specific date. Since the seller said it was 1990's, I am almost positive it is not American made since the V series was from the mid 80's.
