Got a good play with a few more pedals today. Gave a LBM a full play around, it is very high gain and at high gain/tone it sounds very evil and nasty! But turn it the gain back and I got lovely tones
Also tried the Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz and T-Rex Mudhoney. The SD TF was pretty decent, sounded like a fuzzier version of a ProCo Rat. The T-Rex was an interesting pedal, on its standard settings it has a vintage tube OD sound, not very gainy but quiete smooth. When you hit boost, the fun begins and it gives classic Mudhoney tones, sounds great with rhythm and it has a slight fuzz that makes lead lines yummy.
I still say avoid the DSs, I'm guessing you are new to guitar or at least effects. Save yourself the worry now and get something that will last you, a DS will get boring fast.
