Using the stock switches for coil splitting... has anyone tried this?

I'm putting a GFS Vintage 59 in my Jag-Stang and I want to wire so that the bridge slider switch is the following:

Front: humbucker

Middle: kill/mute

Back: rear coil

I'm trying to avoid changing out the pots or adding other switches.

I did that on mine. Upper switch is a pickup selector and the bottom does what you described.

I wired in the new pickup last night, and plugged in. The new HB is always on, even in the middle position. Does this sound like I didn't ground something properly?

I'm still lost on this. I can't get the middle switch position to turn off the humbucker. The GFS humbucker I'm using has 5 wires:

red = south coil end

white = north coil end

green = south coil lead

black = north coil lead

and silver shielding which, I've grounded.

Is the orange wire the lead for the north coil on you diagram? And the lead for the south is the green?

This is a terrific mod. Using HNB's setup with the neck switch being a pickup selector and the bridge switch being the humbucker split is awesome.

I am glad you like it. It is a combination of the mod found on the main page for Jagstangs with the humbucker split option I found online. 😀

It is truly the most practical JS/Mustang setup IMO. By the way, thanks again for the opinion on the Mastery Bridge! I now will have money left over for a Russian Big Muff! Hey man, someone offered to sell me a 2004 CIJ Competition Mustang. It's Lake Placid Blue with the white stripe and a matching headstock with a black and gold Fender logo. $500 sound like a good deal? It's mint with a gig bag.
