Custom Full Scale Jaguar Project Finished Pg. 3

A buddy by the name of Andrew has started making full scale Jaguar bodies. He does this by moving the bridge back. He also adjusts the trem back a bit and the bridge pickup rout back a bit to balance it out. Here are pics. 😀 (He calls it a Saber-Tooth.) I need to do some sanding a bit before doing the z-poxy sealing. Then it will be painting time. Hello Metallic K.O.! Here are some pictures.

Finished the Z Poxy. Goal: Sand it as perfectly smooth as I possibly can.

Sanded up. Just need to do a little sealing touch up where some of the cracks were deeper, but should be ready to spray tomorrow afternoon possibly. (Or Monday morning. No school Monday and Tuesday. )

And on goes the clear coat. This color is pure sexy. I am really thrilled with it now that clear is on it. Totally awesome. I will lightly sand the clear to be ready for another round of clear and then it will be wetsanding time and then more clear, and then final wetsanding.

very tasty. ive always wanted a 24.75in scale jag/jazz, with a jag neck pickup n a bringe HB. the jagmaster dont come in between jag n jazz scale lengths tho. i wish it did. i lnow your guitar isnt, but its damn sexy nontheless!

It is normal for a guitar from start to finish to run $700-$1000 depending on where I get the neck, what pickups I get, if I have to do a custom guard or if I can use a stock one, etc. Not bad for something mostly hand built, painted, wired, and assembled.

This is only my third paint job. If you had the interest to do painting, I think you could learn it easy enough. Just have to practice and learn as you go. 😁

I might start making my own bodies to help fund my guitar additction. LOL

Thanks! I love Jaguars, but I don't fit short scale as well as I would like. This works out great for me. 😀

Awesome, I'd be interested once you start on the bodies. Based on the care you put into the instruments you're building, I'm sure they would be lovely hunks of wood. 😲

My plates came in and my knobs. I have the four switches and my main tone caps on the way. I still need pickups and a bridge. I still have clear coat work to do, but I wanted to see how it was looking. I will spray another layer of clear on tomorrow.

The neck and caps came.

The neck is pretty cool. It is a satin finish. The rosewood seems to have gloss finish on it which seems strange with the rest satin, but hard to beat on a cheap neck. The tuners look like ok knock offs. Will do for now. The nut is probably plastic, but looks like it is in good shape. I dig it. It is a little bit bigger than the pocket so I will have to hand sand the pocket a bit to get the neck to fit. My Allparts bound neck was snug like this as well, so not a huge surprise.
