OK, a couple of final thoughts:
Reranch is a freaking fantastic company. I had never painted anything and was pretty skeptical that lacquer in a rattle-can would come out decent, but it really did. The key is patience. Once I started spraying on the color I would spray a coat and then wait three hours and then spray another coat. I was in school at the time so this took weeks to actually do. Also, while I think I only used one or two cans of colored lacquer, I easily went through 4 of the clear coat for the body and the neck. Also, after I finally finished spraying I waited almost 2 months, maybe a little longer before the lacquer cured enough to start wet sanding and polishing. I had a couple of sand throughs around the edges because when you are wet sanding the water turns kind of whitish and you can't really see or tell whether it actually went through. Also, figuring out the wiring was fairly ridiculous. I trolled a whole bunch and put a bunch of different diagrams which ended up not quite working, but for what I do is fine. If you a perfectionist this might not be a relaxing project. But if you have some patience and like fiddling you can get some incredible results that I would dare say is better than the original 😀
