I'm going to be starting a Jag-Stang build soon, I have a body, neck and vintage WRHB already and am in the process of getting the rest of the parts together. My plan was to do a single pickup version with the Wide Range in the neck position. I wanted to do the body in a chocolate brown, similar to the 70's Mocha brown Fender put out. After thinking about it though I'm tempted to go all the way and do it as a "what if" guitar. I.E. what if the Jag-Stang was put out in the 70's but was of course curious on what others thought about it. Opinions are always fun to have.
So the plan would be the chocolate brown finish, black 3-ply mustang guard, Wide Range in the bridge position and either a Mustang or Jaguar pickup in the neck position. I'd be using the "F" tuners and a three bolt neck plate along with Bronco "F" knobs. The switching would be an on/off for the neck pickup and a series/off/parallel for the bridge pickup. The WRHB I have was previously modified to 4 conductor wiring. Also the neck I'm using is has a maple fretboard with the larger CBS headstock.
My other option on the pickguard, which I was going to do originally but am not 100% set on at this point was a Bronco style guard. Either modified for a Mustang or Jaugar control plate or just keeping it all plastic.
