New Guitar (tele copy)

Its just a cheap tele copy by SX, suprisingly well made. The setup from the factory was set perfectly, though i do have an allparts/mighty might fender tele neck coming for a classic tele headstock and rosewood fretboard. that will also give me a standard fender radius instead of the flat 13''-14'' radius this thing has. That being said the neck is actually really well made, the frets are all leveled nicely and theres no overhang that you get on cheap guitars. all in all its a hell of a deal at $130 for a project guitar. Gonna put a hot rail in the bridge as well, but other than that i love it how it is.

It is pretty good, I'm suprised.It has a beautiful neck, just not my style or taste, but if it had a fender neck or squier neck and was sold i na guitar shop it could easily be sold for 500 like the classic vibes or mexican teles. when i get some batteries for my camera i'll get some better photos up, but the sunburst that it has is gorgeous, has a nice black-red-yellow fade....on a side note the neck i ordered is back ordered so its gonna be a couple weeks before i can get that on there.

I ordered one but its back ordered, the guy said it'll be a couple weeks, but thats fine this one is atleast managable. My replacement bridge pickup came today, just finished installing that, and my labels came as well.

So i'm still waiting on the neck, but i figured id show off the refinned squier neck thats on my strat that i used as a test for putting decals on and coating the lacquer over it.

The finish looks a little rough since it was my first go at it, but i think it gives it sort of an old beat up look and feel to it.

theres a few spots that look like the lacquer smudged but it kinda looks like its an old worn down finish, gives it a unique look to it.

Lacquer often takes at least a month to get hard enough not to dent. I let stuff hang and dry for four weeks minimum so it doesn't dent and stuff easily.

its funny the psychological effect a name has on it, when it had the squier stuff on it, it just felt awkard, after all, im not a fan of strats. but now that it has fender, it felt really comfortable the other day lol

Ordered a white pearloid pickguard for the tele yesterday, shipped so hopefully that'll be here monday at the latest.

So the pearloid pickguard came today, only cost $12 on ebay, naturally it wasn't a perfect fit since its ment for fenders and mines a copy, but the only place that was a bit off was near the control plate, so i sanded it to round out around the control plate.

Now it has a slight gap between the plate and the pickguard all the way around, similar to how the original 65 mustangs had. The only other bit of work i had to do was drill the holes for the neck pickup screws. Didn't have a drill bit that small so i found an old wood screw that was the right size and used that inside a drill to punch the hole, came out pretty good.

so finally got the new neck on the guitar, its definitely different from the first shot in the threat....here it is with the bass i picked up yesterday
