never heard it called polyester here, even fenders website lists the cobain mustang as being finished in polyurethane. though, fender's site doesn't exacly have all the types of lacquers listed, for instance, the johnny marr signature jag just says lacquer, the cobain jag says gloss lacquer, but not the type.
