I recently bought a '98 Les Paul Special that had been rebuilt to sell. The guy did a really good job and even lined the cavities with copper. Important for single coils but I'm not sure if your humbuckers need this protection. So I'm curious to see what your plan is for shielding.
BTW, my LPSpecial is TV Yellow nitro. I never much liked the black art-deco pickguard shape on the LP body. So I made a new pickguard of tort shaped like the more graceful LP Jr. pickguard. It looked so good I made a matching truss rod cover and when I got that mounted, wow, the visual integrity just works. Thought that might be a touch you'd like to consider.
