Looks ####ing great man. You should start making these guitars for profit man. With all of the connections on these forums and the others I've seen you on, you could basically start your own guitar building business. It's something you love to do and you could work from home and still be able to support yourself and loved ones. He's right, everything you touch looks ####ing incredible, and everybody and their mother loves modded offsets.

Just a thought, if you like doing it for the personal pleasure and enjoyment only, more power to you dude! Either way, that finish is killer!

The rough thing is this sort of stuff doesn't sell well on ebay. People there want stuff stock and factory made. Hand built guitars peers of mine have built never sell there and there stuff is loads better than mine.

I see. Well at least you have insight on how well things are selling then haha. I have no idea anything about building guitars or the market for them. Can't wait to see this one finished. Is the mini humbucker a Firebird or just a mini-hum with a solid cover?

The guy I got it from thought it was a GFS or Eastwood mini humbucker. 😀 Should be fun to try out.

Both of the companies make a great sounding mini hum. Probably GFS. Although I have absolutely no clue, I am not sure that Eastwood sells a solid cover mini hum separately. If it is an Eastwood, that'd be cool, as it probably would have come out of an H44 clone or the Wandre DLX clone.

No markings on it, so hard to say. It does have blue wires.

Just put on the fourth coat of clear. Tomorrow I will try to get in a coat in the morning and one at night.

Updated pictures from clear coating just now. Half way point. Two more cans of clear to go on this body and then it can dry.

Body is in the house drying now. Looks good! Just need to wait for it to cure before I can wet sand.

After sketching a Japanese demon (oni) in the pickup cavity, I went to work this morning on wetsanding. This pic shows the lower area that I sanded with 1500 and the part I hadn't done yet in case any of you are trying your first finish and want to see the difference. Don't worry about it being cloudy. That shines back up when you polish it.

See the little flecks of shine? You don't want those. Keep going until it is all satin.

Once I finished with 1500 and the flecks were gone, I did 2500. (To try to minimize any sanding swirls.) When that was done, it looked like this.

Then it was polish time. (I use car polishing compound you can get from Autozone.)

Next I installed the bridge cups (I had to slightly enlarge the holes) and then I screwed down the tremolo. (Oh I also drilled a bridge ground hole and put a ground wire in.)

Then I installed the Musicmaster neck. Fit great.

Here it is with a Mustang pickguard on it. (Not using it, just to get a better idea of how it looks.)

Here you can see where the Mustang guard's curve isn't deep enough for the body.

I need to get my custom guard made and I also need a Mustang control plate. I think I need a input jack and a blending pot as well. Progress!

I can't stress how great that finish came up, it looks even better with the clear. So unique. What electronics are you using again? I know the mini-hum, but are you going with a second pickup or just the mini-hum?

Mini humbucker in the neck and an 80's strat bridge pickup. 😀
