Nice, that kind of has a Ramone's type vibe. I believe Johnny played a Mosrite Mark II with a bridge single-coil and a neck mini-hum.

I try to make each a little different so each has its own sound when I can. 😀 Makes them each special and more unique.

Thinking 500ks because the mini humbucker and single coil are relatively low output. 😀

Nice, i know you had used 1 meg pots before with high output HBs so i was curious as to what ones you got or used that fit into the mustangs control plate...been thinking of putting some in mine but i know the whole us/metric thing screws it up.

If the holes have been small in the plate, I just drill them larger with a hand drill. 😀

what size drill bit? I'm really wanting to put some in my mustang because even with the 500k pots, any pup i put in is really muddy compared to my jaguar which has the 1 megs.

I usually just grab my bit that is just slightly too big for the existing holes to open them up. It the pot still doesn't fit, I got up one more and repeat until they do.

Finished the drop filling. Here it is mostly smooth.

Taped it back up and sprayed some more lacquer to help rebuild the surface and level it out more.

Nice work man, that guitar looks amazing. Couple questions, how many coats of clear did you apply & how long did the entire process take (from no stain to completion?

A week of stain and dry time. Then about a week of zpoxy sealer and light sanding. Then about two weeks of clear. Two coats a day and about twelve light coats total. Then one month of cure time.

Repair completed. I am very pleased with how the repair went in the end. Would be extremely hard to tell there was anything repaired there. Now I just need to keep saving to get that pickguard made. I have all the other parts.

Great "mistake"! Very nice finish.

One thing I'd consider is a pickguard that works with the grain and stain...an aged pearl, the yellowed pearl would really harmonize nicely.

Thanks! The plan is an aged looking red tortoise guard similar to Costello's Jazzmaster. Can't wait until I can get that guard ordered. 😀

Small update. After several months of saving money only to have a bill come up, I finally got the tort guard ordered. Tony said he will be sending me the guard tomorrow in the mail. Once it gets here, it is assembly time! I have every other part. Can't wait for this to be done. Probably the longest time I have spent on a build. LOL

By the way, it is the red nitro tort with parchment (instead of mint) layers like what WD sells. For those who like their tort, I solute you. 😉
