Now weve all seen or heard of the Mustang bass and the Jaguar bass. Now what if there was a Jag-Stang bass?

I designed one a few years back on photoshop based on a sketchbook doodle.

Not the best of photoshops, I'll admit, but it gets the idea across.

I remember at the time I wanted to keep the configuration of the jag-stang as closely as possible for the bass version; i.e. humbucker and single coil, and the phase switches, which weren't in the mustang bass (yes I know, only one pickup).

I'd still keep the mustang bass bridge and scale, dunno if I'd add contours.

definatly keep the scale, maybe try and make the Fender Jag-Stang Bass flow alittle better, and perhaps just do the mustang bass pickup

That bass looks like a fish exposed to radiation..and it's retarded. Short scales deserve a better look.

Its really cool looking though id put more thought into the pickups cause it looks kind of crowded. Also it needs to be surf green with a matching headstock. 😎

if your going to make a JS bass...you have to keep it the same color as the JS. (fiesta red or sonic blue)....its just a given

I agree, it needs to be in those colours. I did mention I made it some time ago, I ought to have developed the idea a bit more. Realistically the bridge should be much further down the body, nearer to the end to retain the scale. Also, the pickguard would have to be considerably bigger to accommodate the pickups and switches

For a Jag-Stang bass, this is what I thought it would be like for years....

P-Bass style humbucker at the bridge, Mustang type P-bass pickup at the neck, regular Mustang neck and hardware. Tone pot sould be the mix post for the guitar.

considering the jagstang bass would be based off the jagstang....a different color would be like a part being from a different guitar

why would u want a Jag-Stang bass? I mean the real appeal to many people is that Kurt used a Jag-Stang a bass would have zero appeal except to look like a guitarist but the bassist is the bassist.

See the thing is I like the look of a Jag-Stang, regardless of Kurt Cobain's involvement. Thats why I think itd look good as a bass and in surf green. Saying it would lose appeal due to different colors is something similar to saying people would hate a Strat because the colors are different than what Leo Fender originally painted them. Though there probably are people like that in the world.

Oh and for the record (is there even one?) I have a friend who bought a Mustang bass because Cobain played a Mustang guitar.

yeah people dont buy jagstangs because kurt played one...its because he took part in designing it....but its probably true for the mustang...people buy it cause he used it....they still made a bass for it anyway....I agree....the shape of the jagstang is very cool reguardless of kurts involvment.

yet without his involvment it wouldnt exist. As for buying things cause people used them thinking about it is stupid but then again everyone has done that at lease once or twice,oh I saw the Cobain action figure yesterday they ####ed up the mustang 😢
