Other than the two dings, it looks like it is in pretty awesome shape. Once it arrives and I can get a closer look I will be able to decide if I keep it as is, or if I strip it and do something else. IF I strip it, I was actually thinking of staining it walnut or something and putting a tort guard on it ala Elvis Costello. 😀

So here is what I came up with. I had an old 90's JS pickguard that had warped. I put it under some weight in the oven for 15 minutes and it flattened right out.

It has an 80's strat pickup in the neck with a bar magnet, a super distortion in the bridge, no switches (I put electrical tape under to cover them), 1meg volume and mini toggle. (No tone pot.) The bridge is from a blacktop Jazzy I think. It actually reminds me of a modified Mustang bridge. Height screws, but only one place for strings to pass over. I put some beat up black screws in the pickguard and chrome in the chrome. the neck pickup cover is from an old Jag-Stang pickup that had yellowed. Amp knob on it because I had one around. I dig it. Kind of trashy, but in a good way. Still need strap locks and a neck with plate.

Through sales and trades I got some new parts for this guitar. Some slider switches, pots, knobs, and a new neck pickup and Jag-Stang neck. I was never really happy with the paint cracks and dings, so I decided to strip the body and refinish it. I did the front and back last night.

I was surprised how nice the wood looked.... I was also surprised that I couldn't find a body seam. It could be laminate, so I didn't know what I was dealing with until today when I took the paint off the sides.

No laminate. It is indeed a one piece body. I haven't ever seen a one piece body with my Fender guitars yet. Pretty cool. This one still needs sanding, sealing, and then I will be painting it metallic green.

Did my sanding. Looks a lot cleaner now. Next step is z-poxy coats to reseal it. 😀

It turns out to be a two piece body. I couldn't see the seam until I finished sanding the sides. The top is blended way too well to tell. At any rate, here is the first coat of z-poxy on the top. Tomorrow morning I will do the back.
