personally i think burgindy mist + black pickguard + chrome trimmings seriously looks the absolute business! would look even better with chrome pickup rings, but man this guitar is beautiful.

I did intend to stick a few bids on then if won, do a few mods (sell both pickups, install 2x black cool rails, 1 x baclk hot rails, add 3 way selctor switch, remove TOM).

In the end the price went out of my reach and couldnt justify buying another guitar (ive bought 2 more in the past month!). Also realised that im probably just better off getting a jaguar HH, as i dislike single coils, and HATE 7.5" radius necks.

still, if i ever get a jaguar, this is what mine's gonna look like!

I'd be allright with it, but I can't stand Tune-O-Matics on a Jaguar, I prefer a regular rocker bridge.

yeh i dont get installing humbuckers + TOM on a jaguar - why not just get a Jaguar HH, or a jagmaster, or a Fender Tornado?

surely taking the single coil and bridge takes away everything that makes a jaguar unique?

i messaged the guy with a few questioned before bidding - he said the lipstick humbucker was REALLY low output, and he installed it mainly cos i looked cool. Also he got the guitar cos he liked jaguar shapes..but he never got used to the short scale neck.

personally i dont get the point of the SD quater pounder anyway..i mean if you want a high output pickup, get a cool/hotrails; you're not gonna get any singlecoil sparkle from that overwound beast anyway. or am i missing something?!!

I dont recall there ever being a 'lipstick humbucker' being made 😕

As for the SD quarter pounder (for Jag), remember it is designed specifically for the Jag unlike the hot rails or cool rails. So it will retain the Jags traditional sound to a degree plus give you a better performance in high gain situations. 😉

Anyway, i listened to the Quarter Pounder sound clips on the SD website, it sounds like a bassy muddy mess in the bridge. So f*ck knows why anyone would put one in the neck position, where it would lose even more clarity.

To me, the key part is the bridge, the string path has a LOT to do with the guitar's natural tone and sustain. That's where a lot of the Jaguar sound comes from is the 24" scale and that wacky bridge/tailpiece combo.

The pickups on a stock Jaguar are technically stratocaster pickups with a few extra winds, with the average being around 6.8K ohms according to the a vintage guitar site i once read (I can't seem to find it), with the vintage fender pickup specifications.

They really are just hopped up Strat pickups. I have cool rails in mine, they sound very much like a hot-wound set of Jaguar pickups.

SD do a bridge and NECK model of the Quarter Pounder. And as for them soundclips they are very brief and hardly tell you anything, i have a quarter pounder in the Jazzmaster (bridge) and it seriously is a quality pup.
