well jazz and blues more or less go hand in hand, to purists anyway, but i know you can get a good trad-to-modern jazz sound out of a strat regardless, because i once did it for a week in the high school jazz ensemble when my jag was MIA.
i've always been confused by the buddy guy strat, it looks to be identical to the clapton. also, that one you've posted is roughly $1500 (don't know if you're prepared to pay that much). there's a $600 version with no lace sensors or boost, only available in polka dot. i'd suggest going for a strat you really like, you can put whatever pickups you want in it.
