New Pickups

I've not had my Jag-Stang for long, but already I reckon a new set of pickups are on the cards. I'm pretty set upon getting the Seymour Duncan JB, I've found a dealer who can sell the white ones (white on white seems to work best) for a decent price.

The thing is, I'm having trouble locating a dealer who can sell the Texas Special single coils on their own. Seen a lot of "Strat Packs" selling 3 together, but of course, I don't need three and I haven't got the cash to go buying excessive amounts of pickups.

I figured my best bet would be to save up some money, buy a 3 pack and sell the other 2 on eBay, but is it really worth the hassle? Has anybody got the Texas and how decent is it? I love my single coil pickup and the current one is pretty decent, but what do you guys think?

im looking for the same two pickups. Try ebay for a single texas speical...or try the fender.com site. THey probably sell them in singles

Ive got texas specials in my SRV Strat they kick ass! I would sell the other two on Ebay someone will buy them.

a wonderful clean tone and a deeper distortion it all depends on the amp and settings im using a Marshall Super Lead so all my guitar sound great ha. I really like the special sound its a lil deeper in the neck like an acoustic check out an SRV to see if u can.

Just ordered a 3 pack of Texas Specials the other day for my strat myself. I am interested what value pots you guys use with them? Aparantly SRV used 1meg VOLUME pot? Im not after an SRV tone myself, just want a strat with a bit more bite.

Woah, that site's perfect! I never bothered to check a US shop before because most of them don't ship to the UK at reasonable prices, but they ship for $5.95 worldwide. I can even get the JB I want for about half the price I was going to pay for it! Thanks a lot for that man, I think I know where I'll be getting my pickups from now. 😛

One thing to note with GPR is that orders much over $200us attract extra $20usd shipping, but its still worthwhile... Mind you i placed a order the other day for $270us and they let it through for $5.95,mind you ive spent bucketloads there now myself.

Well I guess if it's just a three pack of singles and a humbucker costing over $200 it shouldn't require the extra shipping charge, but either way I doubt I'll be buying them on the same day anyway, I've gotta save up the cash first, I just burnt out on buying the Jag-Stang itself. 😛

I would allow the extra for shipping upgrade in your budget for a 3 pack and a h/b, i got simaler order, and i had to pay the extra. Recent order was infact more than the 3pack and humbucker in total price, yet only contained one 3 pack of pickups, maybe being smaller physical order was why they let it through, seems kinda random anyway. I actully wanted the extra fast shipping on the recent order, as im hanging for the parts, but the shipping upgrade isnt an option in the checkout, last time they sent extra request for payment for upgrade, this time they didnt...

But yeah, i cant complain in all, they have some of the best prices,and for cheap orders, nobody beats $5.95 shipping worldwide! If i get my texas specials before you order yours, ill let you know how they go in my Strat.

Can allways do what i have done with most of my orders, order them a few days apart, in uder $200 lots, if its only 2 lots its cheaper than the upgrade.
