My New Mustang

its really just a mustang guard and control plate. and i think the body may be from a mustang template.

so its an ash body, painted shell pink. jaguar trem and bridge with a buzz stop. the neck pup is... well i think its vintage. and the bridge, who knows.... normal mustang wiring. the tone knob doesn't work so i'll have to get that figured out. and the neck is a vintage musicmaster neck, someone made a new nut for it, and did an ok job... tho i want to re-make it since a few of the grooves aren't deep enough and its a bit "scrunched" the low e side was brought in too far. and the tuners are re-issue tuners.

all in all its a cool lil guitar, im thinking of sanding it all down to a natural color and throwing a black pg on it to give it a cool lil 70's look.

but that will be a long time from now.

Sounds pretty cool overall man. I would just slap a Hello Kitty sticker on it haha.

That upper bout at the end of the body...where you have the ergonomic carve...the bout looks smaller than a Mustang. Is it just the photo, the color, the angle, or is this body smaller than Mustang?

are you talking about the fore arm contour? its not the same angle as a normal mustang, but the body is the same size. its prolby just that since its more forward it looks smaller, im not really a fan of contours actually, i like slab bodies.

It has a picture of a Mustang and a Musicmaster...Looks like this body is a Musicmaster body...just that slightly short left horn.

ooooo, gotcha, def not then. just the angle of the photo i guess. i had a 59 duo-sonic with the body you speak of. smaller body in general. and its rather thin as well.(not mine, the 59) anywho.

im thinking of stripping off the paint and going all natural and putting a black pickguard on it. im digging the 70's look, and since the neck is a vintage 70s neck, it could work out rather nicely

Yeah, good idea on striping the paint....Pink is rather odd. Looks like an exciting project though.

don't talk smack about pink! i love pink!

who ever painted it did a pretty bad job. looks like it was painted blue, then primed, then painted pink, and NO level sanding or grain filling ever took place so its rough all over and there is a stupid amount of orange peel with almost no clear coat, if any at all actually.
