Rechrome?

First post, but hopefully not the last...

I have a 1967 Jaguar that I purchased new way back when. I haven't used it for about 20 years. I'm mainly a keyboard guy but want to get back into guitar. The guitar looks normal for it's age (compared to pictures of similiar aged Jaguars), but the chrome is pitted. In case I do ever want to part with it, does it diminish the value of guitar if I replace the chrome parts with new ones or have the old ones replated?

yes, that does hurt the value, no matter what it looks like, as long as its original its worth more than if you tried to clean it up or put new parts on it.

basically, if its all original, leave it that way. don't touch it. re-finishing it, or swapping out parts will hurt the value ALOT!

I guess that's counter-intuitive, but I'm seeing people selling them for mucho bucks when they look like.. well used, I guess I'll just clean it up as much as possible and play it. I hate to say this on this forum, but I'm thinking of getting a new Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HS to add to my collection. Am I now banished? 😛 At least it's a Fender...

im not kidding..... maybe i had a couple actually. my first guitar was an epiphone strat copy, then i got a washburn super strat looking thing, and the last strat i remember having was a peavey. all of them were actually very nice guitars, but all them ended up dead. i still have the peavey tho, i did a re-constructed art piece and hung it on the wall
