Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. Happy to be here. I have the thinline jaguar. Very happy with it. I'm using flatwound 11s and the mastery bridge. In other places I have read some criticism of the stock electronics and pickups. The main criticism seems to be that the bridge pickup in Japanese made Jags is excissively trebly and 'thin'.
Yes the bridge pickup alone is very trebly if you don't roll back the tone control. But when you combine both pickups the treble in the bridge becomes more useable. In any case I think the thinline jag has more bass and low mid resonance. My flatwounds also soften the treble response.
The strangle switch makes a lot of sense when you are using flatwounds. Keeps you out of the midrange mud.
What do you think of the bridge pickup? I am skeptical of the criticism referred to above.
