Fender Modern Player Jagstang???

This topic is about the possibility of a Fender Modern Player Jagstang. Fender have recently brought out a Modern Player Starcaster so would you rule out the possibility of a Modern Player Jagstang?

i don't think they will, it was sort of a bomb the first time, and the re-issue didn't sell very well either.

The original starcaster was a bomb as well its first time out, however no, if they reissue it, they'll either redo it as it originally came out, or do it as an artist signature model.

to be honest tho, at the time the starcaster came out fender was bombing in general, quality control was non existent and the company was suffering for a few years.

I don't think the starcaster will be around for very long, my guess. 3 years top end before they nix it. Don't get me wrong, i love the starcaster, my buddy fredo in downy has a 76 that is a pretty rad lil guitar, and the coronado is always on my list of "cool" and even tho they re-issued that, i don't see it doing very well, but probly better than the starcaster.

The Coronado is an awesome guitar, so I hope that sticks around, and I'd love to see them reissue the Wildwood series although I doubt they will. If they did I'd definitely pick one up. A reissue Jag-Stang would be cool, but I doubt Courtney Love would allow it as I think she has the rights to it. Even if she did, I don't think fender would re-issue it again.

ten years ago i would have never imagined that they would re-issue the coro, starcaster, or even used the marauder name again, but they did!

i def don't think the wildwood will ever come back, maybe as a crazy custom option, but thats a strong maybe.

I'm not sure if Fender ever will produce the Jag-Stang again in the near future....

I read somewhere a long, long, long, long time ago that the body design was actually licensed to Fender by Cobain/Nirvana/whoever owns the rights to it and that approval was required before a new release, but then I can't be sure.

Some things they could do with that model...

- Create a Squier version and make that their token Squier Cobain associated guitar

- Do a more accurate to Ernie Bailey's mods version with a J.B. and a TOM instead of the Mustang bridge for the anniversary of xxx album.

- Bring back the MIJ/CIJ models once again

As for other Fender Models, I'd love to see the Bronco guitar be reissued, plus the Fender Lead I, II, and III.

Personally as I'm sure most of you will all of like to see the Jagstang reissued in one way or another possibly for the 20th anniversary of cobains death I know it's unlikely for a return but hopefully it wouldn't be ruled out

Mike, his daughter owns the right to his likeness now, but I'm not sure who would control that. Unfortunately the last album they did just got rereleased so it would have to be around now. As to the EB modded one, i figure if they do an artist signature one of it as a rerelease, thats how it'll be, with all the upgrades. I only wish they'd redo them just so i can put my original 97 one away, since leftys are hard to find.
