midboost control on guitar

would i be able to wire my JS so the tone know does a mid boost (0-25db) kinda like Eric Claptons guitar?

Yeah, you can totally do that. I couldn't tell you how, but it's definately possible on a JS.

The Alden QTX tone control does exactly that, and it's passive. But you can only buy them in an Alden guitar.

you'll be happy to hear it's a piece of piss and you're totally going to be able to do it. unfortunately, there are some hurdles you'll have to overcome.

first of all, the tbx tone control can be bought seperately, they even make an "eric clapton kit," but guitarelectronics.com is out of stock on both of them. at least you know they're sold though, some carefull hunting will yield results elsewhere:

also, many other companies make a circuit board for installation in the guitar which will give you teh claptondtz, and use your existing tone control.

i guess the biggest problem would be finding a place for the 9v battery. you may have to route. lucky for you, the jag-stang has all that extra room on its ass.

ok i dont want the tone control tho....i want the mid boost...yeah its like 100 something $$ and it might not be worth it

I think the tone thing means the tone pot and it would be like a push pull to activate the boost. And its really pointless just get a high output humbucker.

Mad Mike has active EMG pickups and he said his 9v battery is stored under the metal control plate on his Jag-Stang and fits there fine. Apparently no need for routing. 😀
