Hi Everyone -

My name is Jon and I'm new to this site. I just purchased a Fender Jaguar and SuperChamp X2 tube amp. It sounds beautiful. Since I'm new to Fender I have a few questions -

1. I've seen multiple sources that say .11 strings + are recommended? I'm used to Reg .10. What is the difference? Are bends considerably more difficult? Is the tone super fat like 80's Clapton?

2. I have a Gibson SG and I'm in love with the crunch. I don't expect a similar sound from the Jag, however I'm looking to increase the bite of the low strings. Right now it's a very ember-like bass sound.

As to you're question about the strings, people recommend 11s for jags because, with the shorter scale, they feel closer to 10s on a strat. The second question is a bit trickier because its personal preference on pickups, but keep in mind jags tend to use 1 meg pots which make them very bright compared to an SG.

To be more specific I have a Mexican-made 2012 Pawn Shop Fender Jaguarillo if that helps. I know the bridge is a humbucker. I'm looking to replace the neck pickup at some point.

That still should have 1 meg pots, though you'd have to check. Again though, pickups are very subjective, some love duncans or dimarzios, some people HAVE to have expensive ones like lollar or those, me personally i perfer cheaper asian made ones.
