no one has mentioned anyone from the ventures, the best selling guitar group of all time, and some fantastic surf guitar playing. Dick dale, is on that top 100 list, and if Slash is a better guitar player than dick dale, I think there is something wrong with the world

Slash shouldn't even be in the list. Neither should most of them. The Ventures, even though I love them, shouldn't either. Nearly every guitar player on that list are players who are loved for their particular style, but if they ever tried to play with someone outside that style, they'd be completely lost.

Come on now toez10, how can you not mention such virtuosos as Dan Lawrence and Sycamore Smith? besides we all know the Ventures were only animatronic puppets....Eric Clapton did all their guitar playing between Beatles sessions

No body is amazing in every style, but there are plenty of guitarists who would be able to play with anybody. If Slash was ever asked to record a track with John Scofield, it'd be a joke. If you're not proficient enough on your instrument to play more than ONE style, you're not great at all. Not even very good.

There is no greatest guitarist of all time. There are some amazing Jazz players that always get omitted and you never know, there could be someone unknown that could blow any of these guys away. This list should be called greatest known rock guitarist of all time.
