Joelightnin Hello ! I got a squier mustang about three weeks ago and started getting really bad buzz on the d string. I got it setup and it started again I was wondering if replacing the bridge with a tune o matic style bridge would help. Thanks.
Alex Hi Joe. One of the first things I try on buzzing 24" scale guitars is to put on about the heaviest gauge strings I can stand. If the heavier gauge strings are significantly different that what your guitar was setup with last time that may require another setup. Sorry! I would avoid drastically changing the bridge or at least leave towards a final option.
JamesJ Try using .10-.46 strings on it. I would also suggest wrapping the bridge posts with electrical tape until they are snug in the thimbles(if you haven't already done so)
indisguise I put on some .10s but kept getting bad buzz, switched over to some .11's, did a setup and they're perfect for it! Just my preference though, I can still bend quite easily with this gauge too.
