basically the way i see it, theres 3 types of fuzz pedal:
1) vintage fuzz (fuzz face, danelectro french toast etc) - these fuzzes are really trebley, but are designed to be blended with the distortion on your amp. Think Hendrix, Pink Floyd.
2) Warm fuzz (big muff): classic violin sustain warm fuzz - no good for chords. Think White Stripes (guitar solo in 7 Nation Army, or intro to Dead Leaves..).
3) modern fuzz (boss hyperfuzz, fuzz factory): usually these are a mix of fuzz and distortion..plus weird controls and stuff. quite a big variation here.
