Hey there, I'm a newbie to this board, and um, if I looked about I'd probably find the answer I was looking for.But, alas I really don't have time right this minute...
So, here goes... I have an original fiesta red JagStang from 1994, (with one 'ding' on the paintwork!), I was just wondering what the original pick-ups were. I ask, cos the guy I bought it off of changed a set to Seymour Duncan whatever-they-are's!
He wanted a cool looking guitar alá Cobain, yet he wanted to sound like Kyuss!!! So he changed the pick-up to whatever Homme was using at the time... ! And the bloody fool THREW AWAY(!), yes, threw away the original pick-up!
So, yeah, just wondering what it/they was/were...?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

PS - I remember quite clearly it costing him £450 to buy at the time. Was that a rip off? I ended up buying it off him for £200 about two years later... 'forgetting' to pay the other £100 I promised him. He forgot about it too, ya see... =OD
I have friends who LOVE playing it, but personally I cannot stand it. Chronically goes out of tune everytime you strum the bloody thing, and this is with the tremelo taken off too...
I tend to play my 1958 Eiphone Wilshire which is actually from the Gibson factory at that time, it's nice and light, lovely sound and quite simply a beaut... Got it off the guy who was in The Screaming Trees (Gary Lee Conner) for £250 which was a total bargain! I've had offers of ten times that amount!
Or I play my Les Paul Smartwood, which is probably the best Gibson I've ever played, lovely guitar, fingers glide over it and the neck's not too fat unlike other Gibsons. And it stays in tune nicely even after a thrashing... Ultra-bright sound to it too...
Other than those descriptions, I'm afraid I don't know much about guitars! LOL! Not really a gear-head... Just play them, though I DO try and take care of them. Even though the Epiphone is battered to f**k, I don't really want to clean it up, it'll take something away from it I feel... I imagine it's changed hands quite a few times... from its beginning in 1958 in LA, possibly through the US during the 60s and 70s, ending up in Seattle in the late 80s and 90s, and then all the way across the pond to South London UK in 2001... =O) *sigh* romantisising the journey! It's 21 years older than I am!
