The Fender jaguar 62' Reissue from Japan is a whole different beast than the 62' Reissue ThinSkin guitars.

They are two completely different guitar series with different manufacture and different price points....

The earlier of the two is the Japanese reissues, which started production at the Fuji Gen Gakki plant in Japan in 1985, and in 1997-1998ish they changed over to being made at Dyna Gakki at that time. Japanese guitars are "Badge Manufactured" at these factories for the manufacturers.

Those guitars don't have a nitrocellulose laquered finish, they use a Poly finish, and a rather thick one too in the case of the FujiGen guitars, my Jag-Stang's paint is about 1mm thick, and my CIJ Jaguar is just a hair or two thinner. The early guitars also used special Asian woods that had a more pronounced grain, and others have a "Foto Flame" finish, which is a Kodak photographic overlay of Flamed Maple plased over a Basswood body (they started using Basswood in the early 1990's). The CIJ models have Alder bodies like American solid-color guitars do.

They also are designed to a completely different price point. Those guitars are considered "Mid-Level" guitars, and were priced around $500-800 back in the days when they were new. They are more expensive now (comparable to USA guitars) because of the costs of importing them to certain countries. Fender also discontinued their availability in the USA due to competition with aforementioned 62' Reissues made in the Corona California plant.

The Thin Skin guitars are basically the Corona Made 62' Jaguars with a special Nitrocellulose finish that is done in a very limited amount of coats in limited runs in certain colors IIRC. Outside of the thinner finish to appeal to those who prefer it they are the exact same guitar as the regular 62' Reissues. Those guitars were produced from 1999-2012-2013ish.

Currently Fender only has a 65' Reissue Jaguar made in Corona, and the 62' Reissue-ish model is the Squier VM series, which is a whole other subject.
