it isn't strictly the case that "made" is basswood, and "crafted" is alder. the ealier ones are basswood (apart from sunburst, apparently), and the later ones are alder. but since "made" is earlier than "crafted", is can sometimes be the case though. crafted also indicated the jaguar was manufactured after '97.
but in general terms, you ignore that little decal (because it means very little), and pay attention to the general condition of the japanese jaguar
