Choice of strings?

As I don't really have the money to replace the stock pick-ups at the moment, I was wondering if I could beef up the tone of my JS with some fatter strings. I have no idea what's on there at the moment, other than the coil wound ones are getting corroded, so well overdue for replacement.

What would everyone recommend, size wise and brand? I was thinking maybe 0.11s?

Hi I would defintely reccommend 11's they suit the short scale so much better. I use 11's with a wound 3rd on all my guitars and in terms of tuning stability and string breakage I think they're great. I haven't broken a string in years and I come from the heavy right handed school of playing - i.e. I keep the forearm straight as I can, and pick from the elbow, a la Jason Newsted.

I use D'Addarios cos they're cheap-ish, but I'm sure other brands do 11's with a wound 3rd as well.
