Jag stang single coil mod

Hi all

I've recently decided to mod my jagstang myself by changing the stock single coil pup.

many years ago, I got someone to put a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, and it looks like the guy changed the schematics quite a bit.

I am new to modding myself, but after the recent success of building a headphone amplifier, I feel I want to try to install a different pup in my jagstang neck.

I play in a band which plays covers of various rock/indie/punk (throughout the decades), and although the jb is ideal for this, I just wanted a little bit more variety, whilst satisfying my urge to get my soldering station back out.

I have almost decided to purchase a hotrails (unless anyone can give me a reason not to), but I don't know whether to get a tele or a strat version....... can anyone shine some light on the difference please....... is it a size thing??

I would also appreciate any help from someone who has gone through a similar process in the past, and are willing to share their experiences.

You'll want the strat version, the neck pickup on a Jag-Stang is pretty much just a Stratocaster pickup so that is the version that will fit.

Having a hot-rail means you'd have to make a decision on weather you want the old phase-reverse feature carried over from the Mustang, or a coil split. The stock wiring means you could still get that weird hollow 'conky' out of phase thing, but having a coil split means you'd have a hum and a single in the same unit, at the flick of a switch.

Yeah..... coincidentally, I have been looking for a schematic to coil split both humbuckers (when the hot rails eventually come).

ideally I would like to have the three way switch on both switches ======= coil tapped/split ----- off ------ full humbucker.

i'm sure there must be one out there but I haven't been able to find one yet. I'd like to have a go at doing this myself but I am quite apprehensive to do so to be honest.
